This web site is designed* and maintained by me (Jane Bluestein, Father Sky Graphics), pretty much for lack of reliable or affordable help. Whatever you find on this site, for better or worse, is my doing.
We will only publish the first and last names of contributors when we receive a signed permission form. If the contributor is younger than 18, a signature of a parent or guardian is required. Otherwise, we use only first names or pseudonyms to credit contributions.
It is our policy to never post feedback, comments or stories that would infringe on the privacy of anyone else. We reserve the right to edit these materials to protect the identity of anyone mentioned in them. Also, if people trust us enough to give us their email or other contact information, you can be sure that we will NEVER share this information with anyone. Ever.
Our intent in creating this Web site, and the book it represents, is to provide a forum for kids to talk about their experiences in high school, and to read about other kids’ experiences. We hope that visitors to the site will find validation, reassurance and information to make their high school years positive and productive.
We understand that the reality of some high school students may be a little more “real” than some visitors might like. We have no wish to offend, however we are committed to representing as many dimensions of the high school experience, positive and negative, and as many different types of high school communities, as we possibly can.
And while we have chosen to honor the voices and opinions of our contributors, we will not publish anything on this site that feels in any way hateful, racist, sexist or otherwise discriminatory, or just plain mean.
We’ve made it a policy for years to NOT pass on information, no matter how bad our luck is supposed to get if we don’t. If we see or receive something we like, something that feels consistent with the mission of this web site, we will post it somewhere on these pages.
I’ve been told that one of the ways spammers can get your email address is through searches on Web sites. So while you will find numerous opportunities to contact us, you won’t find our actual address on these pages. (Yes, it’s in the code in the script that generates the email, and you can certainly get the address that way, but it is my understanding that the search “spiders” can not.) You can go to our “Contact Us” page or click here if you have any questions, or to get the address off the email you create.
There are so many ways to mess up a web page, it boggles the mind. If you find anything that requires my attention—a bad link, a missing ALT tag, a typo or any weird casualty of “cut and paste”—please do not hesitate to contact me. If I can't fix it, I’ll find someone who can!
When
I first launched this site, many of the pages were still unfinished (or “under
construction”). I found this really cute graphic to include on these pages
and got so many positive comments about this graphic that I thought I’d
give the little guy a permanent home here on this page. I will remove the graphic
from pages as I “construct” them, but even when the last unfinished
page is finally completed, we can always visit our friend right here.
